Our clients approached us, looking for architects who specialised in residential remodel projects. When undertaking this kind of work, we always assess needs and options, both in terms of the client as well as the overall building or site. This provides the ideal starting point for taking the project forwards and ensures our clients can maximise what they are getting out of a building project.
The client’s site was a run down and out of date bungalow, sited on a tricky corner plot. Our brief was to provide a design solution for a comprehensive renovation and extension project that ultimately aimed to increase the accommodation, provide modern family living areas and to maximize the value and potential of the site.
Reconfiguring the existing plan, we were able to create a new master bedroom with en-suite, whilst designing an extension that was more appropriate for the needs of a 4 bedroom house. This involved creating a new open-plan kitchen, dining and living space as well as creating a large family lounge. Bespoke gable-end glazing and rooflights fill the new lounge area with light and this truly bespoke space is furnished with a full-height feature wall with inset TV and fireplace. Externally, the home was given a new lease of life with a full-house render and the replacement of all windows, doors, roof tiles, fascia, soffits and rainwater goods to provide a more modern aesthetic in line with the client’s aspirations.
The value of our design was the transformation and creation of a highly desirable home. This translated into a doubling of the house value realised after 2 years.
